This is Nutella and Strawberry. We are a lesbian couple that has been together since April 2003. We were married in June 2006, and then legally married in Jan 2013! Nutella is your basic ENFP (read: loud, friendly, zany, optimistic) and Strawberry is the ISFJ yin to her yang (read: empathetic, practical, loyal, and at times OCD)
We began our journey towards parenthood in June 2008. After 3 IUI’s with an anonymous frozen donor, we were very lucky to get pregnant. The pregnancy was mostly uneventful, save for morning sickness that lasted well into the second trimester. Our baby decided he had to be born in May despite his April 22 due date, and on May 1, 2009, after an extremely long and difficult labor, our son came into the world at 3:22am.
Our blog has thus transitioned from TTC to pregnancy and now to parenthood. We invite you to join us as we continue our daily journey as a family of 3 (plus dog).
Hello,
Just wanted to let you know that I’m enjoying your blog. My partner and I are in the midst of wedding planning (not yet in baby making land), but it’s helpful to get a sense of what the process is like. Thanks for sharing your experiences! Also, was the wine festival you mentioned Salute? If so, we were there too!
Mandy
Hello and welcome! No, it wasn’t Salute that we went to…that’s a couple states south of us. Good luck with your wedding…though it was stressful sometimes, we had a blast with ours in the end π I’ll keep up with you two on your blog.
I hadn’t realized our due dates are the same! We’ll have to keep in touch and compare symptoms π
Thanks for reading and for the kind words! I love hearing about your story. Keep up the good work ladies!
Just got your comment. You are blowing my mind. SPERM IS COVERED UNDER FLEX???? I DIDN”T KNOW THAT. I do have a flex account and I have used it for co-pays and prescriptions, but sperm is the main cost at this point. At $550 a vial + $200 shipping, it adds up fast. I will definately look into that. I didn’t even think that it would be covered. Have a great holiday!
Hi, I’m really enjoying reading your blog. It’s extremely informative and lovely to read. I just have to ask, but totally understand if you don’t respond off blog via email, but does your blog name have anything to do with your location. If so, and it’s the Vermillion I’m thinking of, we live in the same region :-).
But, I totally don’t expect a response, this being the internets and all, I completely respect anonymity :-).
Thanks and I’m SO glad I found your blog!
Erin- You know, we chose the blog name even before knowing that there’s an actual city called Vermillion. π Sorry to disappoint, but we do not live anywhere near there. We actually chose the name because Nutella loves the color red and “vermillion” is based on a nail polish color she uses.
That said, we’re glad to have you reading and welcome!
Hey there! So I had to comment because well we seem to be on a similar path. My wife got preggers also the third try with our last first choice donor sperm! Plus I also noticed the yin to her yang comment…my wife (pregnant) is the ENFP and I am the IFSJ. I’ll have to back track and read up on your blog! Congrats and good luck!
hey, well we are expecting, my wife and i, and i was just wondering if by vermillion, that means canada or if it was in the us?
Hey, can you send me your password? Thanks!

Hi ladies – would love to have your password if you’re up for sharing. crazylesbianmom(@)gmail.com. Thanks! ~ Lex.
Hello ladies, I am a Canadian friend of Elwing’s who pointed me to your blog wayyy back when my spouse and I were TTC via fertility treatments. Our daughter is 5 months younger than your son, and your blog has helped us stay hopeful and positive through some pretty rough waters!
In any case, I am commenting to a) say thank you! and b) can I have the password to look at your photos if you don’t mind? I’m reading about your adventures on a 5 month time delay so that when Curly is 20 months I can ready about his milestones at the same time as Sabine’s 20 months and I just got to your cruise photos and would love to see them! (ok so I’m a bit behind on my reading)…
Hi,
I’ve had you on my Google Reader for a while, and I would like to request the password for your blog. I hope this is okay! (My partner and I just had a son, also conceived via IUI.)
Thanks.
-Allison.
I lost all my blog passwords π¦ Can you resend? Sorry!
Hi,
I really enjoyed my first visit to your blog today. It’s fun to read, and the design is great. I hope we’ll soon transition from a TTC blog to a family blog. π
Hi ladies,
Longtime reader and fan (and fellow queer mom), wondering if you feel comfortable sharing the password? I totally understand if not π
We’re a lesbian couple who was able to conceive through donor sperm. We recently started a clothing line aimed at children of LGBT families and those through adoption. We are just getting started, but hoped that maybe you would take a peek and share if you like them. Thanks..

Hello! We are also a lesbian couple but our kids are now old, as a matter of fact our oldest son is getting married in 11 days!
gla to have found your blog!
You know, I just realized I’ve been reading for a long time, and I think I may comment very sporadically, but I don’t have your password. If you’d like to share send it to gumshoegirl at gmail dot com Thanks!
Hey! Just found your blog and would love the password if that’s ok.
Hi there!! First off – love your blog…thanks for sharing your life & experiences with all of us! My wife and I read through post after post when we were TTC, now, our little one is here and we are transitioning into the parenting phase. The similarities between our experiences is baffling. I would love to continue following you all, and wondered if you’d be willing to share the password with us.
Thank you again, look forward to the continued posts!!
