Bang, bang!

I got yer bullets right here..

  • Curly’s birthday party was a success. The weather was beautiful, nearly all of our invited guests made it from near and far, and Curly only got cranky for the last half hour, after which we took him home and he took a 2 hour nap. He loved his cupcake, playing with all his new toys, and being passed around. Whew.
  • We got a free sample of size 3 Pampers cruisers with a order. We tried them on Curly and they fit. So it’s not our kid that’s the problem, it’s the sizing of the Nature’s Best diapers we use. Relief at not having some sort of giant or oddly shaped boy not readily detectable by us.   As for the pampers, the purple color and branded characters I can deal with, but why do they have to be scented?
  • Curly really dislikes standing and being in grass. He will buckle his knees very quickly if you stand him up, and look positively miserable once seated in grass. On the plus side, we don’t have to worry about him crawling off when placed in a grassy area, which can be very convenient.
  • We are meeting up with Teaberry and her family, and get to meet baby Lucas for the first time tomorrow- yay!
  • We have been interviewing daycare centers and found one yesterday that we absolutely adore. They should have a spot opening late this summer and we are so excited about it and crossing our fingers. Curly will be 15-16 months old and we think more than ready for a change of scenery. We would plan on keeping him there for the long run since they have a lovely pre-school program as well.

The grass is HOT LAVA!

Ha, my little niece was just the same with grass when she was almost a year old. She wasn’t quite walking yet and would do this adorable knees-off-the-ground crawl as fast as she could to get off that terrible grass. She did outgrow it and now runs barefoot everywhere in grass and dirt. 🙂 Happy birthday Miles!

  2. Oscar was the same way with grass, too. And once he started walking, he didn’t want to walk on it either. But no such thin with our Miles. He took off on the grass like a champ, even crawling through mud. Gotta keep up with big brother.

Glad the party was a success (of course it was) and that you found a new day care. Sound ideal!

  3. love the picture and your tag on it is perfect. glad you had an awesome birthday 🙂

  4. Happy birthday Miles! Glad you had such a great party, and also congrats on finding a new daycare!

I was so bewildered by your diaper size/child mismatch before – that makes so much more sense, now! Pampers are way more heavily scented than Huggies… might be something to try. They aren’t fully unscented, but it’s not noticable to my rather sensitive nose.

  5. Erik was the same with grass when he was a baby and would do this crawl thing on his hands and feet so his knees weren’t touching the grass. It was hilarious.

Congrats on finding a daycare centre you like!

Glad his first birthday party was such a success. It’s always good when the baby enjoys it. 🙂

I love the picture, he’s so cute!

  6. Wow, not only finding a great daycare, but having a spot open! That may be our downfall…

The look on his face is hilarious! 🙂

  7. Cute caption!

    i love the picture.
i hope the daycare situation works out but it sounds like you have found something you are optimistic about so that is great.
what a handsome one year old!

  9. E is just now starting to get over his grass phobia. We’re going to have to come up with new lawn-blanket-containment strategies, I guess. 😉

Yay for the daycare find and Happy Birthday Miles!!

  10. Great news on the daycare! I know that was/is a huge deal.

  11. I am loving your new header (or is it not new and I am late noticing?? it is sooooo cute!)

High five on the day care stuff.

W eventually became ok-ish with grass. But he would rather not.

Also- Miles is looking very blonde here- It is beyond adorable.

  12. Great news on the daycare! And it cracks me up that Miles hates the grass. Can’t wait to see what he makes of sand this summer!
