Timing is Everything

Question for people out there using IUI- how soon after the surge (double line on the OPK) are you doing (or planning on doing) the IUI?

We’ve seen conflicting information and research studies on this, so I’m wondering what you’ve heard. Links to sources would be much appreciated, too. Thank you!!

  1. the next day. usually 24 hours later, but usually more like 22-23 hours later. i test around 4:30pm and have IUI appointments usually the next day between 2 and 3pm.

  2. Most people say within 24 hours. Although my RE said 24-36 hours. So, I always felt safe doign it within 24 hours.

  3. i’ve heard within 24 hours. i’ve talked to some moms who say that they take opks at least twice a day (every 12 hours), so that they will be able to better pinpoint when the surge occured.

  4. Thanks, girls. 24 hours it is.

  5. Our doctor says do one the following day and one the day after that. We’re going with what she says for now at least.
